Mission Statement: to assist each woman of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in affirming her relationship with the Triune God so that she is enabled to use her gifts in ministry to the people of the world.
Goals:
- assist women to grow in their faith
- experience a closer walk with their Lord
- engage in sharing the Gospel and caring for God's people
- using their gifts for the express purpose of growing the Kingdom
How do we do this?
- bible study, workshops, retreats, mentoring, fellowship with our sisters in Christ
Some activities in our local church include:
- monthly gatherings where we study the bible, share great fellowship, plan the work of the LWML
- support the congregation through Lenten/Advent meals, funeral meals, receptions, etc.
- provide the annual Harvest Dinner open to the community
- assemble fruit plates for shut ins
- retreats, breakaways, conventions, rallies
- provide gifts for graduates & confirmands
- collect "mites" to support our many benevelences
What is a Mite? It is money collected to provide funding for many grants locally, nationally and overseas. Our district pays out approximately $21,000 biannually to organizations such as The Morning Star Mentoring Program on the Makah Indian Reservation in Washington State. Our national organization has recently approved a 1.8 million dollars in grants. This is all done through the collection of monies in our little Mite boxes.
Keep feeding that Mite Box so we can continue to do the Lord's work world wide!
Who is a part of this group? Any Lutheran Church Missouri Synod woman. Each church has a society which belongs to a Zone (Western), a District (Utah Idaho) and the National organization.
